the joneses have moved onto bigger and better living spaces!

Some of you may have hear our woes of the "first apartment." We have been married almost 6 months (CRAZY!) and we lived in a 2 bedroom apartment. We loved it however...the neighbors, maintenance, and overall vibe was not as friendly as we are.
We have stories upon stories that we can share (and probably will) with you about what it was like living on Willis Avenue. Our lease was coming to an end and our pastor bought a two-family gorgeous home. We decided it was time to move and so we are renting out 1/2 of the house with our good friend (and one of our groomsmen) Steve who also just moved to Syracuse. It was a bit of a rough move with me working full time and Ian working mostly weekends. To make it even more interesting it was Memorial Day weekend and Syracuse had record high temperatures. I also experienced some health problems so we were pretty stressed by the time we had to move. Needless to say we weren't the best packers. We threw everything into our new place and spent the night at our good friends new house (they moved the same weekend!). We are now in the house and we love it! For now here are some photos of the beginning. I'll update soon with the progress.

On a side note tomorrow is Ian's 23rd birthday (cough baby cough). It is crazy to me that 1 year ago we got engaged on his birthday! It was/still is one of the best days I've ever had in my life. I can't wait to celebrate him and us tomorrow (and every day...cheesy, gosh sorry about this!).

tulips!

day 1- tulips arrive!
We put a ton of work into my shower, reception and planning our wedding. We wanted to stay within a budget and a lot of things became DIY. Now that I (Christie) am working within the wedding industry I poured hours and hours into researching, reading blogs, and designing the overall theme of our events.

White tulips are my all time favorite flowers. Many people don't know but I actually have 2 tulip tattoos. My great grandpa came over from the Netherlands and began a nursery with trees, plants and most of all tulips. Ever since I was a little girl I was drawn to them. I think out of all the flowers they speak to mine and Ian's personalities. They are beautiful, have clean lines, and no frill. Ian likes functionality and I love simple elegance. I found an amazingggg deal on 100 tulips so naturally I ordered them ($80 for 100 including delivery)! They arrived in bunches and the picture to the left is from that day.

We let them sit until the morning of the wedding when we arrange the centerpieces, bridesmaid's bouquets, and last but not least my beautiful bouquet. It was a great bonding experience with my girls.

my my how the time goes by!

I cannot believe April is almost over! Shout out to my wonderful parents! It is their wedding anniversary today!

Well believe it or not the bridal shower, reception, and honeymoon have come and gone! (I wish I was still in sunny Florida...take a look at that beach!) We had an absolutely amazing time. I will post some separate entries with pictures from the reception when my wonderful photographer is done editing them.

We decided that we liked the idea of having this blog be where our family, friends, and other people (let us know who you are!) can find updates on our life! So...(drumroll pleaseeee) we are keeping the blog! We couldn't keep it thejoneswedding because well...that happened! We are calling this blog thisjoneslife!

We are moving out of our first apartment in a month! We are moving into an absolutely gorgeous duplex! Our pastor and his family bought the house and we are going to be the tenants on the other side. Each side is at least 2200 sq. feet! We were able to pick the paint colors and even pitch in with some of the renovations. We would like to provide this website as a contact for you to ask us for our new address when we do move, for you to follow our moving process, and to be involved in our lives even though you may be far from us.

So hang in there! More information very very soon! But for now I have to send out all the thank yous to my lovely friends and family!

Our Honeymoon is booked!

For those of you who are wondering where we are going on our honeymoon we were wondering up until this week too! We booked our trip this week though and we finally have a destination!!!
The things that Ian wanted in a honeymoon was to have fun and relax- those were top priorities of mine too but I was craving something else too.....WARMTH!
I probably picked the worst winter ever to move to Syracuse- there is still snow on the ground. Most of you that know me know that I love the beach, water, warmth, sun etc. (I mean if you got the invite you know my little nautical touches - just wait for the reception I still have some tricks up my sleeve!) so a warm location was top priority for me. The up/downside of the timeframe for our honeymoon is it is a lot of peoples spring break- Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday....guess what that means??? All the prices are extremely high and raised for the holiday. I almost gave up thinking we would just wind up somewhere cold and we would still have a great time but there would be no lounging by the pool, no soaking up the sun, no sundresses...but then I found a super great deal! We are going to FLORIDA!!!! I'm super excited (and I think Ian is too).
So now we get the chance to take a roadtrip to/from Long Island and we get to fly to Florida and enjoy some R&R in the sun. I can not wait!
